The studio is led by Areej Hashmi-Weyman who has over 20 years of experience of working in urban design, architecture and research across a wide range of project types. She is a registered architect in Victoria and South Australia.
We aim to bring in stakeholders, end-users, and clients, as well as consultants, town planners, and local governments, to the beginning of the process to collaborate on a shared vision. We also form strategic alliances with fellow architects and designers when required for the scope of the projects.
We also work on self-initiated projects for research and development.
The Yarra Valley house on the sloping site with parkland on two sides came with an existing approved envelope constraint. The client had a very specific brief to be met within the site constraints.
The design maximises the envelope creating spaces that create drama and play with light, levels and colour.
The design explores the relationship with the land by following the slope and creating spaces that float within the garden.
The play of light and form create the narrative. The layers peeled back to a simple, contextual design that sits quietly within its parkland setting.
A family holiday studio on a Victorian surf beach area. The studio will serve as a summer base, winter retreat or eventually as a place to call home in the future.
The design allows for the temporal change when teenagers become adults and adults grow old. It also allows for sand to be kept outside and winter sun to come in.
